United States Promoting As Tourist Destination

United States begins to promote more strongly to Lima as a tourist destination as a city and not just pass on the way to Cuzco and Machu Picchu, said the president of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), Tony Go char. The capital of the Andean country will host next March’s International Destination Expo 2012, organized by ASTA and should give a trend in the U.S. market, the main source of tourists to Bolivia.

“The idea is to change the image people have of Lima that is, not only be considered as a transit to get to Cusco and Machu Picchu, but the Americans have in mind to stay a few days and live the experience offered by the Peruvian capital, “Go char said to Adina news agency.

“We would like more American tourists have the opportunity to see the attractions of the capital, the center of Lima, the Convent of San Francisco, the Magic Water Circuit, among other interesting places,” he said, noting that more than 1,000 world travel agencies will visit Peru in March 2012 as part of International Destination Expo, to meet the national tourism, distributed in coastal regions, mountains and jungle.

“The organization of the event (sessions 1 to March 4) is planning pre and post tours. Thus, the agencies attending the fate Peru sold more informed, better products and quality services, “he added.

According to Prompter, which organizes the event along with ASTA, the U.S. remains the leading source of tourists to Peru and generates foreign currency for 400 million dollars annually, with visitors exceeding the average expenditure of international visitors (1,300 dollars compared to 1,040). Behind U.S. in terms of foreign exchange contribution of tourism, like France and Spain.

Director of Tourism Promotion Prompter, Rocco Merino, said recently that thanks to the International Destination Expo held in Lima, “the flow of American tourists to the country could increase by two percentage points a year.” In that sense, he considered that with the momentum following the event, and implementing more promotional strategies, the number of Americans who visit Peru will double over the next five years.

Mostly, said the board, Americans remain in the Andean country an average of two weeks and prefer destinations such as Cusco, Puno and Arequipa, which make up the southern circuit, but also make nature tourism, mainly in the Jungle.

Much Art And More In Vero Beach

Much Art And More In Vero Beach

Vero Beach Florida is more than just a beach city. Though well-known for its beach hot spots and tourist attractions, the city also values art. Indeed, Vero Beach can be considered as an artist's haven. Vero Beach's fame for offering the good life is owed greatly to the integration of a tropical atmosphere and the cosmopolitanism of a cultured city. Hence, it was named as one of the premier art towns of America.
Vero Beach

The city exudes cultural wealth. The arts center which costs over $2 million dollars is declared the largest teaching facility and art museum in Florida. Vero Beach Florida's 630-seat Riverside Theater is located on Treasure Coast. Aside from being Treasure Coast's signature professional theater, the venue is also known for staging expensive and world class productions. The art culture started in Vero Beach since the early 20th century when artists, poets, artisans, and actors found their place and settled in the city.

The botanical jungle garden was considered as a landmark in landscaping and was built and opened to the public in the 1930's by Waldo Sexton and Arthur McKee. Vero Beach's theater guild held their first presentation in 1958 and Riverside Theater followed suit in 1974. But don't get the impression that Vero beach caters only to theater or design artists, because in 1966, Vero Beach formed its own concert association.
Vero Beach
As mark of the citizens commitment to art, they raised and built a children's theater named after Anne Morton. As further proof to their value for art, most of these institutions were built by private donations with assistance from Vero Beach's local government.

Perhaps, it is the beauty of their own land that inspire Vero Beach's residents to create so much beauty of their own. After all, Vero Beach Florida is blessed with semi-tropical weather.

This makes Vero Beach a suitable place for a variety of flora including tropical trees and even pines which normally thrive on colder regions. There are also extensive citrus orchards and national parks in and around Vero Beach. Flowers rage in Vero Beach, and since this is a beach place, towering palms dot the landscape.

Surely, natural beauties such as these are enough to inspire anybody. However, if you're not the artsy type of person, there are still lots of things to do and appreciate in Vero Beach. It is after all, the Dodgers' home, and considered as one of the top diving and surfing spots in Florida.

JJ Steak House In Pasadena California

JJ Steak House In Pasadena California

Have you been looking for that perfect romantic restaurant to take a date or spouse to? Do you like old fashion elegant steak houses with lots of dark rich wood, plenty of marble and romantic lighting? Do you like the idea of a large fireplace? Do you like soft romantic harp music played by a very talented harpist? Do you like excellent leisurely attentive service where you never feel rushed? Do you like personal attention from the owners? Do you like aged prime cuts of beef that are exceptionally well prepared?  Do you like fine wines and a relaxed quiet atmosphere where you can enjoy good conversation with your guest?
Pasadena, California, USA
There is a spot in Pasadena, California that gives you all that and more. JJ Steak House which is on the upper floor at 88 W. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91105. Phone: (626) 844-8889

JJ Steak House, which is fairly pricey for a Pasadena area restaurant is inexpensive when compared to comparable restaurants in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. There is an old saying, You get what you pay for, however in this case, with JJ Steak House you get more than you pay for. I have been to a few restaurants that may be slightly better than this one, however their prices were all considerably higher. I have also been to many restaurants that are not nearly as good but still charge much more.

This place is not in a ritzy glitzy building, is not in Beverly Hills, Manhattan or on the Loop, does not have a fancy entrance with expensive cars parked in front and you can walk or drive past it every day without knowing it is there. What it does have is great food served well in a romantic setting. If you appreciate fine quiet elegant dining with excellent fare served properly at very reasonable prices, you will love JJ Steak House. By the way, it is JJ Steak House not JJs Steak House.

If you like loud music, a noisy atmosphere, fast impersonal service or if you think that Sizzler Restaurants serves delicious prime rib, then JJ is not the place for you.

This steak house is very popular, therefore reservations while not required are a good idea, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

For a directory of restaurants and restaurant reviews in the city of Pasadena, California see This website restaurants.html a directory listing Pasadena restaurants alphabetically and by category or type with reviews written by restaurant customers.

Travel Tips : Costa Rica – Tales of the Guaro

Costa Rica – Tales of the Guaro

Every country has a unique beverage it claims as its own. In Costa Rica, the beverage of choice is Guaro.

There is a certain national pride associated with claiming an alcoholic beverage. Think of Mexico and tequila immediately comes to mind. Vodka, of course, goes with Russia. Visit Greece and an ouzo headache can’t be far behind. Aquavit in Sweden will definitely turn your head…and stomach.

Costa Rica, of course, couldn’t miss out on the fun.

Guaro

Depending on which bartender you speak to, Guaro is either a mind erasing alcohol beverage or an energy drink with a little kick. Guaro is the national beverage of Costa Rica. Despite visiting Costa Rica on multiple occasions, I have never tried. And for good reason.

Ten of us were hanging out in the beach town of Carrillo just taking in the evening after another day in the sun. Carrillo is a great town for fishing and a few epic surf spots are close by. It is similar to Tamarindo, but without the overwhelming ex-pat influence. Unfortunately,
Carrillo is extremely tame at night. Put another way, there is really nothing to do.

A bit bored, the ten of us had congregated in a café overlooking the ocean. Tables and chairs had been pushed together and we had reached the point in the evening where we were telling lies about how great we used to be. The bartender/owner approached our table and suggested we hadn’t experience Costa Rica until we had sampled Guaro.

One of our merry band was selected.

Known humorously as Mexico Mike, our guinea pig was experienced in the ways of Mexican Tequila. Mexico was remotely close to Costa Rica, so the drinks were probably similar. Indeed, Mexico Mike was the man for the job.

The shot glass came. Jokes were made. Mike through it back. A small grimace, a lime, slaps on the back and general laughter. Just as we started egging each other on to be the next person to experience Costa Rica, a funny thing happened.

Mexico Mike was becoming Pink Mike. Laughter stopped and concern spread across the table like the rash developing on his arms. We were probably three hours from a hospital and the term “pink eye” was taking on a much larger meaning. His skin was turning pink! You could actually see it moving down his arms and across his chest. His girlfriend, Stuart, was not happy!

It has to be an odd feeling to sit there and watch your skin change colors. Mike was cracking jokes as is his nature, but there was a definite tension to his laugh. Fortunately, the reaction soon slowed and retreated. Within 20 minutes, he was good as new and we had a new story to tell.

We universally passed on further offers of Guaro. A traveler has to know his or her limits!

Great Places to Play in New York

Great Places to Play in New York

New York actually has a great deal to offer young and old kids alike who enjoy very little better than playing a great game, video or otherwise. For those of you who enjoy this particular pastime, there are many unique opportunities in New York City in which you can participate in the games you enjoy so much while spending time with friends and family.
Statue Of Liberty , New York
Statue Of Liberty , New York

Astroland Amusement Park at Coney Island has much to offer the adventurous gamer. From thrills and chills on the midway to the Cyclone Roller Coaster and many wonderful rides in between, this park also offers arcade game rooms along the way where you can play video games of all kinds. This is great for those rainy days when you can't ride the rides or simply when it's just too hot to stand in line. It's also a great bonding experience for father and sun to play the games together and see who has the edge at any given moment.

Dave and Busters is a unique dining experience while offering a wide selection of gaming options. This is not your average arcade food by any means. In fact, this isn't your kids arcade or their arcade games. Dave and Busters offers good food and great fun under one roof and if you have the chance I recommend you take the big kid in you to try it out.

The ESPN Zone is a great place to spend the day with the family. They offer food, fun, and 200 televisions. Who could ask for more? The food is American grill type food and the entertainment is for the most part sports themed and interactive. If you're looking for a great way to bond with the kids this is definitely better than Chuck E. Cheese, especially for the slightly older kids.

The Nintendo World Store is another wonderful attraction that is located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza. This neat store will have your kids thinking you're the coolest parent on the planet just for bringing them. That of course will not stop them from asking for everything they see but it will buy you a few minutes of coolness before they grow tired of hearing the word no. You may want to relent at some point however as there is some merchandise offered that is exclusive to this store and cannot be found elsewhere. Even if you must order it and have it shipped home for a later surprise it is better not to always wait until too late to find out you can't get something (at least not without a costly trip to New York). Perhaps one of the coolest things about this particular store is that your kids can try out games that haven't been released yet so they can go back to school with the inside scoop on the latest Nintendo games and you are once again world's coolest mom.

Even for the technologically challenged parents among us it is often a good idea just to enjoy playing games with your kids. Even if they win or maybe, especially if they win, let's hope they are better winners than we were when we were kids. I think we all need to take the time to play with our little ones every chance we get. They grow up so fast and one day they will stop asking us to play with them.

South Beach In Miami

Miami is famous for its fashion, nightlife, boutique shopping, and upscale hotels, and you will find the biggest and best along South Beach, and any Miami beach map shows that SoBe is the center of activity. Although this is generally a destination that is fine for all ages, you do want to take into account that it is South Beach, and this means the occasional tendency toward European-style sunbathing, though Haulover Beach is the only actual nudist beach in Miami. If this is an issue for parents, simply check with your hotel in advance of making your reservation to discuss guidelines for the beach outside the accommodation. One thing is certain, the miles of white sandy beaches are nothing short of spectacular, and host a wide array of activities. Of course, you also have the option of just sitting back with an ice-cold beverage, soaking up the sun as well as the views of some of the most attractive beach-going people in the US.

There is no shortage of activities for people who like to get out into the water and have fun. There is a wide beach area where people enjoy everything from rollerblading and biking to kayaking and jet skiing. There are cabanas that you can rent situated all along the beach and a path that is over a mile and a half long for biking, blading, and the like. If you’re not staying at one of the hotels or rentals and walking to the beach, you ought to consider arriving as early as possible, especially on the weekends when parking comes at a premium. The area known as South Beach actually is comprised of Lummus Park, Collins Park, and Public Beach (located between 5th Street and 15th Street).

This exclusive beach destination offers far more than just modern and clean public facilities, gear andequipment rentals, and trained lifeguards. There are also a wide variety of boutiques, restaurants, and cafes within easy walking distance. Staying at one of the hotels on South Beach Miami is ideal for many reasons. One of the chief considerations is the close proximity to all of the top nightlife destinations, great restaurants, and shopping districts. You will not have to travel far from your beach hotel to find the perfect restaurant or a fun place to have a drink, as expensive as it will likely be.

South Beach is a very glamorous destination, moreso than nearly any other Florida beaches. So, while there are people taking jet skis and speedboats out, it is more so a place where people take in the rays. There are all kinds of cabana bars, as well as restaurants right on the beach where you can enjoy fresh seafood and stunning views of the Atlantic. The southeastern tip of Florida is one of the most alluring parts of the state and offers some of the most consistently favorable weather. If you are planning to travel to Sobe Beach, be sure to make your hotel reservation as far in advance as you can, as the best accommodations stay busy year round.

Buenos Aires :The Wonderful City

If there is one word to describe Buenos Aires, it is ‘seductive’. It is the capital city of Argentina, and also one of the largest cities of South America. Inhabitants of Buenos Aires are also referred to as “portenos” meaning “people from the port”. Considered the “pearl” of South America, it is also one of the most inexpensive holiday destinations, especially for tourists from North America and Europe.
One of the first places you should visit in Buenos Aires is the Plaza de May, situated right in the heart of the city. In fact, it is appropriate to say that the entire city of Buenos Aires was built around the Plaza. Some of Argentina’s most historical events have taken place here at the Plaza. Around it, there are several other places of interest that you can visit. These include the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Government House, and the Cabildo or the Town Hall. But, it is the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo that receives the most tourists. Madres de la Plaza de Mayo refers to those women who visit the Plaza looking for their loved ones who disappeared during the Dirty War that went on from 1976 to 1983.

You can make the San Telmo your second stop. With cobblestone streets and colonial buildings all around, the San Telmo is indeed the most fashionable part of the capital city. The area is dotted with designer boutiques, cafes, and Tango parlors. May be a visit to the San Telmo will set you in the mood for La Boca or ‘the mouth’. Termed the most colorful area of Buenos Aires, La Boca is situated alongside a port. The houses here resemble a painter’s palette, awash in all hues and colors. Caminito is the main street here, and it is every bit as colorful as La Boca itself, what with fairs of artists and painters, and Tango shows.

If all this makes you want to go shopping, don’t resist. Notable among the street markets here are the Sunday Flea Market at San Telmo and the Sunday Antiques Fair at Plaza Dorego. However, do not let all this shopping tire you out. Grab a bite to eat at the Recoleta – perhaps the finest dining experience in all of Buenos Aires. While you are in the area, do visit the Cementario de la Recoleta, the final resting place of Eva Peron. After that, may be you could take some time out to visit the Our Lady of the Pillar Church, and Palais de Glace, a famous gallery. Towards the end of your stay, visit the Parque Lezama, one of the best parks in the city. Or you could also get a taste of life on an Argentinean ranch or Estancias. Either ways, Buenos Aires is hound to leave its colorful imprint on you.

The top 3 Surfing Beaches in Jamaica

Jamaica may be known as one of the world’s most relaxed islands, but this doesn’t mean you can’t get active here if you want to. The beaches are equally ideal for trying out sports like surfing as they are for soaking up the sunshine and enjoying a cool cocktail.
Surfing  in Jamaica
Whether you’ve organised your break way in advance or are planning to arrange a last minute Jamaican escape, you’re bound to be looking forward to hitting that powder sand and deep blue surf. Hire a board during your getaway and you can practise surfing at many of the beaches that dot the island. To find out more about three of the best, read on.

Boston Bay Beach

Arguably the most famous beach in Jamaica at which to ride the waves is Boston Bay Beach in Port Antonio. The exclusive resort is known as the first home of Jamaican surfing and boasts the biggest waves to be found around the island.
The pretty cove is very clean and it’s best to visit between December and March if you want to enjoy perfect surfing conditions. Face north-easterly if you want to experience the biggest swells.
Beginners and intermediate surfers are well catered for here, but seasoned sportsmen and women might want to travel further afield in search of more challenging spots after visiting Boston Bay.
After a few hours on the waves, head on to the shore and sample the area’s famous jerk chicken at the vending stands nearby.

Long Bay

The eastern side of Jamaica is the best location for surfing, and if you’re staying in this area for your holiday it’s worth paying a visit to Long Bay. The resort is known for its reliable surf, although you’ll need to be aware of the area’s forceful undertow.
A relaxed spot, Long Bay has a quaint charm and offers some striking landscapes as a backdrop to your surfing break. There are also plenty of chances to buy some souvenirs from the beach vendors who line the beach.
Swell and wind directions are north-easterly and the optimum tide position can be found mid tide, while rising tide offers the best movement. On a normal day, the main take-off zone is next to the large boulder, and you might catch some rip currents here.

Makka

If you’re staying in or around Kingston for your Jamaican break, head out to Yallahs for at least one day, as the area is home to one of the island’s most consistent waves – Makka. You’ll find this popular surfing spot along the coastline between Yallahs and Morant Point and it has great potential for advanced surfers.
There are all kinds of spots to ride the waves, including a rivermouth break and numerous left-hand point breaks. Some can be ridden from two feet upwards, while others – such as the surf breaking off a massive headland – can only really be ridden when five feet or larger.
It’s wise to be aware that many of the headlands here give way to the vast Caribbean Sea, and you don’t want to end up in open ocean, especially because both the swell and wind patterns can change significantly in a short time here. Beginners will be out of their depth so it’s best to let the experts tackle this area.

The Grand Canyon, United States

A steep gorge by the Colorado River, Arizona in the United States, the Grand Canyon has some truly enjoyable scenery. It is 277 miles in length, 4 to 18 miles in width, and about a mile deep. Scientists believe that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a six million year period.

The first recorded visit to the Grand Canyon by the Europeans was in 1869. Although it is not the deepest canyon in the world, it is known for its extremely large size and beautifully intricate landscape. The Grand Canyon National Park is said to be one of the first national parks in the United States and it attracts more than five million visitors a year. Weather conditions in the Grand Canyon vary greatly between seasons as well as varying at different elevations. While winter snow is experienced by the higher forested rims, the inner gorge has a desert temperature because of the low elevation.

All About New York City

New York is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. California surpasses it in terms of population and manufacturing but the Empire State, the state’s nickname, influences much of the country’s politics, culture, commerce, and finance. Although New York City is the largest city in the country, much of New York is still rural. Albany is its state capital.
Lower Manhattan at dusk , New York , USA

Named for the duke of York in the 1660s, New York is rich in history, starting with the Native Americans’ first occupation in its shores and river valleys. It became the 11th of the original 13 Union states on July 26, 1788.

With its colorful history and scenic attractions, particularly in New York City, it has become a very popular vacation destination. Perhaps its most famous natural spectacle is Niagara Falls, but there also are the Statue of Liberty, the national monument located on Liberty Island; Adirondacks’ Mount Marcy; the Empire State Building; the Palisades of the Hudson River; the series of caves in Howe Caverns; St. Lawrence River’s Thousand Islands; Long Island’s sandy beaches; Saratoga Springs; the Finger Lakes.

Manhattan Island houses the headquarters of the United Nations, and other places one would want to visit in the state are the ski centers in Saranac Lake in winter, and horse race tracks in Saratoga and Goshen and boat racing resorts in Saranac Lake, First Lake and North Creek in the summer. New York City is also known for its parades, particularly the flamboyant Thanksgiving Day parade and Saint Patrick’s Day parades.
